GO-AHEAD Association aims to provide personal development classes for young people and teachers in all technological high schools in Romania by 2030, thus creating a supportive community around them and a safe environment where they can express themselves without fear, be heard and truly understood.
480 female students and 210 teachers from 15 high schools in Neamț and Suceava counties have already benefited from more than 3000 hours of personal development and counselling. EDURIGHTS4GIRLS - Equal access to education is a path-breaking project for the association's goal.
In order to continue the work, we have started, we are launching the #CurajulNUareGEN fundraising campaign, which aims to help 480 female students complete the twelfth grade through our personal development and counselling programs. The campaign runs under the EDURIGHTS4GIRLS - Equal access to education project.
What are we changing?
- We INCREASE self-esteem, motivation, willpower;
- We DECREASE the number of conflict situations;
- We provide INSPIRATION, understanding, patience and we LISTEN;
- We ask young people HOW THEY FEEL;
- We help their ideas take shape and they dare to DREAM;
- WE SUPPORT young people in the fight against anxiety and depression;
- We create a COMMUNITY OF SUPPORT.
Why?
- Romania ranks first in European Union in the number of births among teenagers;
- Neamt and Suceava counties are 2 counties with high risk of poverty and social exclusion in which in 2018, according to NIS, there were reported 18 cases of mothers under 15 years and 1012 mothers between 15-19 years;
- According to the study carried out by the GO-AHEAD Association, among 965 young people in technological high schools in 24 counties:
• 1 in 3 young people feel sad, angry or ashamed at the moment;
• 1 in 3 young people feel tired because they have been working or supporting their parents with certain tasks;
• 1 in 10 young people have a sick family member;
• 1 in 4 young people have just been offended by someone.

EDURIGHTS4GIRLS - Equal access to education project aims to increase the awareness and implementation of human rights and to fight gender discrimination issues in Neamț and Suceava Counties.
The project is implemented by GO-AHEAD Association, in partnership with Neamț County School Inspectorate and Suceava School Association for Education and Development, with the financial support of Active Citizens Fund - Romania, programme funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through EEA Grants 2014-2021.
